Courtnee Nunokawa, DNP, APRN-Rx, AGPCNP-BC, BCN

Courtnee Nunokawa’s career has been driven by her values and beliefs, which are rooted in a core tenet that we all have a human right to lead fulfilling lives in alignment with our values, surrounded by joy and love.

Coutnee’s interest in the brain began when her paternal grandmother was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s and moved in with her family at the age of 12 – shaping early understanding of aging, functional decline, impacts to family units and caregivers. This experience encouraged her to enter the nursing profession at the naïve age of 18. Her relentless curiosity and passion for exploring ways to serve others led her to pursue her board certification as an Adult Geriatric Nurse Practitioner, Doctorate in Nursing Practice, and additional training in mindfulness, biofeedback, neurofeedback, and lifestyle medicine.  Her care approach is unique and is founded upon a lattice of frameworks and approaches to healing.

Courtnee believes that thriving is multimodal and highly individualized – each person has their own path to thriving, and as healers, we are facilitators in helping those find their best possible path. In her career, Courtnee’s values led her to serve populations with high social determinants of health burdens with complex needs – those experiencing homelessness, incarceration, violence, war combat and trauma.  Through the privilege of individuals sharing their own human experience and allowing Courtnee to join on their healing journey, her own spirituality and understanding of human suffering grew as healing approaches grew.

Courtnee’s care approach began centering around the mind and brain – the foundational element to wellness and thriving.  She understands that by optimizing brain health, we are optimizing our entire body and nervous system – and many of the things that help us strive, are accessible in our day-to-day lives – spending time in nature, with loved ones, nourishing our bodies with food, and filling our mind with thoughts aligned with our values.  She believes that we all can be empowered to reach our best possible life, starting with the brain.
